RAC Recommendation | Print |  E-mail

Here is a copy of the Raymark Advisory Committee's final proposal for the remediation of the OU-6 sites.  We recognize the hard work and effort that has been put into this proposal by the RAC.

Overall we agree with the RAC’s position that consolidation (as proposed by the EPA) is not a viable option, nor a long term solution for Stratford.

It is incumbent for our elected officials to understand that compromising residents' health, safety and welfare for the sake of "economic development" is not acceptable.  Why shouldn't we ask for and receive the best cleanup option there is?  Why should Stratford have to settle for a cleanup that is based solely on the premise of "it's the best bang for the buck"?

Save Stratford.org strongly believes that the removal of all or as much of the waste as possible out of Stratford is the better solution because it frees the property owners (and the Town of Stratford) of the toxic waste stigma and long term O&M costs associated with the waste.  Most importantly, the EPA must fully fund a safe, quick and complete cleanup of these sites to liberate Startford from the stigma and health and safety hazards posed by the waste.
